Each year in June, the Flora School Education Center celebrates and demonstrates historic folks arts and agriculture at Flora School Days.
School Days involves as many old-time skills as can be gleaned from volunteers. Annual favorites include blacksmithing, soap-making, silversmithing. Musicians play old-time music throughout the day.
Besides the folk artist demonstrations, the Pie Social, a fund raising tradition from days of old, and the Dutch oven lunch provide plenty of food. |

The Wallowa Mountain Quilters` Guild was formed in 1991 by a small group of local quilters whose love for quilting prompted them to form a local organization with the following goals:
Raise public awareness of the ancient form of quilting and revive public interest in this art form.
Preserve and celebrate the tradition of quilting.
Increase knowledge of and appreciation for modern quilting methods.
Provide an inexpensive avenue for quilters to display their crafts.
Facilitate an exchange of ideas, techniques, patterns and creativity among quilters.
Encourage participation of local quilters toward a common achievement. |

In July of 2009 the City of Enterprise celebrated the Triple Birthday Bash for the 150th birthday for Oregon Statehood, 100th birthday for the Wallowa County Courthouse and the 120th birthday for the incorporation of the City of Enterprise. The byline for the Triple Birthday Bash was “This is the start of something Big!” The plan for this event was to become an annual celebration for the community, and in July of 2010, Enterprise successfully celebrated the Bowlby Bash. |

"It is time once again to let the land hear the familiar sounds that have been developed over thousands of years here in the land of winding waters, the rhythm of the drum beat, the songs, the language, the prayers, the people, and all creation joined to co- exist and respect mother earth and this law of the land. Our elders, whose bones remain in this beautiful land, would be proud that everyone here has a genuine concern to maintain the Nee- Me-Poo (We The People, Nez Perce) culture. It has fallen upon the shoulders of this generation to capture the history and through cultural understanding, respect this land that we live in. We all came together at this historical location to extend our concerns for a better world by maintaining for future generations the knowledge that made this land a wonderful place to live. Whatever we accomplish in these developmental years will be appreciated by many peoples across the nation and around the world. Thank you for your attendance, support, and kindness." - Taz E. E. Once upon a time in a high valley nestled in the remote wilds of Eastern Oregon there began a small one-day music festival. Songwriters and musicians gathered from lands far and near to share their talents with others, under the shadow of eagle`s wings and mountain peaks. Scattered throughout this lovely little valley, lining gravel roads and curving highways, the lowly juniper tree is a sentinel - humbly welcoming sojurners out of the canyons carved by the winding waters of the Wallowas into the lush green fields and rolling prairie land that we call home. |

In the Spring of 1981, local ranchers and packers met with representatives of the Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce and USDA Forest Service to explore the idea of putting together a new county event.
As a result, the mule - tough, intelligent, individualistic, often maligned, but the mainstay of the many packers and outfitters working in Wallowa County - was elevated to center stage for the first annual Hells Canyon Mule Days celebration on September 19 - 20, 1981.
Hells Canyon was an appropriate title because that area owes most of its early settlement and development to the mule which predominantly served as a major means of transportation to gain access to this rugged region of the county.
Given the well-known independence of Mule Days’ long-eared star, the entertaining, action-packed event has met its initial goal - both mule skinners and spectators a like can be part of this family oriented mule show, with events and games for all ages. |
